Spotify wrapped has arrived

As a child, I grew up listening to Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and both of the Stevies – Nicks, and Wonder. My taste was pretty spectacular if I do say so myself. And as an adult, it has since evolved. I still love the classics, and of course, my power ballads. But I also enjoy blues, punk rock, and even some meditation tunes. As a fan of music and data, it should come as no surprise that each year I look forward to the internet’s Met Gala has arrived. That’s right, babes – Spotify Wrapped.

And your 2022 Spotify Wrapped is FINALLY here.

Spotify Wrapped is a celebration of our musical preferences, shared through the power of social media. In that sharing, we can even discover new artists.

So what does this all mean? Naturally, you can anticipate a week or two of seeing your friends post their top songs, artists, and podcasts.

What I love most about Spotify is that it is not just a music streaming service: it’s now a lifestyle. And no, I’m not talking about the kind of “lifestyle” that involves going to the gym and drinking protein shakes. Y’all can have all that and more in January when you attempt the scam that is New Year’s Resolutions.

Instead, I mean the kind of lifestyle that has a playlist for every rhyme or reason – breakups, rainy days, office tunes, and more. Spotify has managed to embed itself in our daily life.

Because Spotify is the perfect marriage of entertainment and data, this year Spotify is drawing inspiration from Myers–Briggs with their musical personality feature that assigns you one of at least 15 different personality types based on your listening habits. It’s a bit ironic that as much as our society claims to hate labels, we are eager to be labeled, and I’m no exception.

While Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny led the way, making it ontop most users wrapped, you can take a peek at my musical personality (and taste) below:
