Fall is kicking off which means it time to talk about one of my favorite colder-weather staples: Doc Martens!
Doc Martens have been around for decades and have become a staple item in many closets. From punk rockers to boho enthusiasts, and the person in between, this iconic shoe has stood the test of time. And, the best thing about it? Everyone can rock them!
Now, I know some of you may have some questions about this timeless shoe, so let me answer some of the most frequently asked questions about Doc Martens:
Q: Are Doc Martens comfortable?
A: Beyond! Some may say they take a bit of time to break in, but I’ve never experienced that. If you requiring breaking in, I will say, public opinion seems to be that once your Docs are broken in, they’re incredibly comfortable. Now I’m not a podiatrist but I feel like the chunky sole provides a little extra support and cushioning making them equal parts cute and functional.
Q: Can I wear Doc Martens with anything?
A: Yes, you can! That’s the beauty of this shoe – it’s versatile and can be styled with just about anything. From jeans and sweaters to dresses and skirts, Doc Martens can easily elevate any look. When I worked at Free People this is something I totally leaned into and would do!
Q: Are Doc Martens waterproof?
A: Not necessarily. The leather material is somewhat water-resistant, but they’re not completely waterproof. If you plan on wearing them in the rain, be sure to protect them with a waterproof spray.
Now, let’s talk about why Doc Martens are a fall staple. For starters, they offer a little extra warmth and protection for your feet during those cooler months. And they have a classic, edgy vibe that pairs perfectly with autumnal colors and textures – think plaid shirts, denim jackets, and chunky knit scarves. Or even sweater dresses.
But, the real reason why Doc Martens are a fall staple is that they’re durable and can withstand the elements. Whether you’re walking in wet leaves or navigating through muddy paths, these shoes were made to last. And, even if you do get them a little scuffed up, it just adds to their character and gives them that vintage feel.
