For those moments you’re feeling overwhelmed

We all know that feeling of being overwhelmed, anxious, and not knowing what to do next. But have you ever tried taking a moment to ground yourself in those high-stress moments? It may sound cliché, it works.

When everything around you feels like it’s about to fall apart, take a deep breath, close your eyes, and just focus on the present moment. Listen to the sounds around you, feel the air on your skin, and try to let go of all the worries about the future. Remember that you are capable of handling anything that comes your way, and that the unknown is not something to be afraid of.

Now, I don’t want to leave you with just that.

Here are two additional tips for coping with stress from a millennial perspective:

  1. Get off social media: I know, I know, social media is a HUGE part of our lives. But sometimes, it can be a major source of stress. Seeing everyone else’s highlight reel can make us feel like we’re falling behind in life. When I’m reality, all of our journeys and timelines are different. So, when you feel like the stress is too much, take a break from social media. Log out, delete the app, do whatever you need to do to disconnect and refocus on yourself. Even just for a week. Or an hour whatever works for you!
  2. Prioritize self-care: Self-care is not selfish. It’s essential. We millennials tend to have a “hustle culture” mentality, where we’re always on the go and never taking a break. But that’s not sustainable. Make time for yourself, whether that means taking a bubble bath, going for a walk, or just curling up on the couch with a good book. Prioritizing self-care will help you recharge and be better equipped to handle whatever stress comes your way.

Remember, you got this! Take a deep breath, ground yourself, and prioritize your well-being.
