What I’ve Learned About Redirection and Rejection

You’ve heard it before. “When one door closes, another one opens.” “Everything happens for a reason.” And the oh-so-popular, “God won’t give you anything you can’t handle.”

But let’s be honest. When you’re going through a rough patch or facing a rejection, those clichés don’t exactly bring comfort. In fact, sometimes they can be downright annoying. I mean, it’s easy to think, “If God won’t give me anything I can’t handle, then why am I struggling so much?”

But here’s the thing.

Those clichés are actually true. And I speak from experience.

There have been several times in my life when I felt like God had rejected something or someone from my life. And at the time, it felt like the end of the world. I couldn’t understand why something that I wanted so badly was being taken away from me.

But looking back, I now see that those rejections were actually redirections. God was saying, “Hey, I know you want this thing, but trust me, there’s something far better out there for you.

And you know what? He was right.

Each time I faced rejection, I ended up finding something even better. A new opportunity, a new relationship, a new path in life that I never would have considered if I had gotten what I initially wanted.

And that’s the thing about rejection. It’s not the end. It’s just a detour.

Pretty major, right?

Initially you may feel angry, hurt, confused, or even betrayed. But know that God has a plan for you. And sometimes, the rejection you’re facing is just a way to steer you towards that plan.

If you didn’t get that job you wanted, a friendship dissolved, or anything of the sort – keep keeping on my friend. Trust when I say things really do have a way of working out.

Yes, rejection of any kind still sucks. But it’s all part of the journey, bestie. And what a journey it is.
