Why I (still) love my Golden Goose Sneakers

If you’re looking for a new addition to elevate your shoe collection because you’re tired of the same lame sneakers that everyone else is wearing, then it’s time to check out Golden Goose.

And listen, I’m sure you’re rolling your eyes because these shoes can be a polarizing topic, but hear me out — these sneakers are equal parts ironically trendy and fashion-forward. Add in the fact that unlike many premium designer shoes, these are actually comfortable, it’s a no brainer that you should own at least one pair.

Don’t feel like reading the rest of the blog but want the TLDR version of which GG’s to get? Easy! You’ll want the Superstars as they are the most true to size and comfortable (in my opinion).

Looking for a muted, more traditional pair? Then you’ll want Pure Star.

Want to channel your inner Spice Girl? Hello, Hi Star.

Reasons to own at least one pair of Golden Goose sneakers

  • The unique design of Golden Goose sneakers stands out in any crowd. These sneakers were made for the people who saw the beauty in being different and never wanted to fit in. Crafted with the softest Italian leather, and intentionally distressed, each pair is genuinely unique. Not to mention the worn-in look gives each pair a sense of individuality and character, making them a statement piece in any outfit.
  • Fitting in is boring. If you’re a true creative spirit, you’ll appreciate the mixed media and intentional mismatch of colors and prints. The funny thing is that this is the very reason Golden Goose sneakers are incredibly versatile. They can be dressed up with a blazer and jeans for a business-casual look, or dressed down with a casual outfit like a mini dress from Spell or even Anthro for a night out with friends. The possibilities are endless with these sneakers, making them a staple in any wardrobe.

Truthfully, these sneakers are a great investment if you just want a sneaker that’s fun and going to hold up. My oldest pair of GG’s probably pushing five years old.

Now will you get your money back by flipping them?

Probably not.

And while the shoes did have a quick viral moment where they were trending, overall the typical purchaser is a longtime fan of the brand and it’s such a niche audience. So if you want to flip them for profit, you might not have the most luck.

But again, if you want a fun shoe where the quality is there, then this is the brand for you. Despite their higher price point, their durability makes them worth the investment. Seeking even more exclusivity? You’ll want the Private Editions. Many stores like Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus do exclusives that are numbered. I have a handful of exclusives from Nordy’s and they are physically numbered inside. These tend to be small batches under 300!

Lastly, if you’re wanting to kick things up a notch, sign up for a GGDB Lab event and customize your own shoes. I did that in the San Francisco store and LOVED it. And then when I got bored, my friend redid the shoes to make them even more of a vibe.
