Self-Improvement Month is here

September is Self Improvement Month, so naturally, I wanted to break down one of the best hacks for healing and living your best life:

Stop worrying about people who aren’t worrying about you.

This advice applies to a plethora of relationships, and not only romantic ones.

The year is winding down, and why start 2023 by bringing along old baggage?

Here are some tips to give you the kick in the bum that you might need on your path to healing and becoming a new and improved version of yourself:

  • Practice forgiveness. It isn’t for the other person. It’s for you.
  • Let go of people that aren’t ready to love you, let alone, love you the way you deserve.
  • Be okay with people not knowing your side of the story. You WILL be the villain in someone’s story. The only validation you need is your own.
  • Stop going back. The best piece of advice I ever received was the most simple: to truly heal from a wound, you need to stop touching it.

Apply this advice to any situation or relationship that feels even the slightest bit toxic.

I’ve truly had to do some soul searching this month especially. This meant taking time to reflect on past choices and as tough as it is, it’s so crucial to growing. I had to make peace with choices I made and not feel shame or guilt. And I think that’s an important note for anyone reading this: never feel bad for a choice you made with pure intentions.

Let’s recap…

  • If your job is toxic – quit. Maybe you’ll finally do something you actually want to do! I mean, you could die today and almost no one from your job would care. They’d have your role posted tomorrow before the ink on your obituary dries. Don’t be a slave to a desk and building up someone else’s dreams or empire
  • If your significant other is gaslighting you, talking to other people or just wasting your time, money and energy — dump them.
  • If your family is bringing you down, let them go. Just because you are related to someone does NOT mean you need to keep them in your life. Sometimes the people closest to us can be the worst

It can be tough, I get it. But you need to stop having deep (one-sided) conversations with people unwilling to change or grow. And quit showing up for people not showing up for you.

If you’re an empath it can be natural to want everyone around you to feel happy and love you, but guess what, babe? It ain’t reality. Trying to people-please will rob you of your peace, and as I have said before – we are too old for that. It’s time to protect our peace. This doesn’t mean turning into a raging brat – it just means you need to stop giving your energy and love to people not deserving of it.

Stop fighting to be loved or accepted.

You are not for everyone and everyone is not for you.

Thank you! I feel like it’s a good reminder for not only those reading…but also myself because sometimes I need that reminder too!
