Tailor my heart

Part of growing older, maybe not always wiser, means finding a reputable tailor.

I know what you’re thinking: but I don’t wear anything that needs to be tailored.

So you think!

As someone with a closet as eclectic as I am, I can tell you that I’ve tailored everything from my whimsical bohemian dresses, to my work dresses. A problem I frequently encountered is? My bohemian dresses would completely hide my shape, while my more professional dresses would fit my hips beautifully while being too baggy for my bust.

I say that to say: if you can wear it, it can be tailored!

Benefits to tailoring include:

  • A custom, professional fit that ensures your clothing moves with you
    • Rarely do clothes ever fit perfectly off the rack
  • Offsetting fast fashion costs by updating a durable piece of clothing
  • Bringing personality to your wardrobe

When choosing a tailor, be sure to find one who is creative, and great at fittings. My tailor is a gem. Truly talented, but also honest. If there’s something she thinks won’t look good, she says no – and you have to respect that because she’s an expert. Lastly, this shouldn’t need to be said, but I will say it: don’t undervalue your tailor. A good tailor is worth their weight in gold.
